Our country's prosperity has been not merely due to great institutions like the IIMs and the IITs, not even to smaller institutions as mch as it has been due to the inventiveness of unknown inventors in the villages and in the small towns. They have contributed far and wide in agricuture and in rural development to an extent that is still not fully appreciated. It is therefore a matter for congratulations that Professor Anil Gupta has steadfastly promoted and nurtured thousands of such minds, brought them together again and again to help them become aware of their own worth. Th the long list of inventive villagers, he has added smart young students too.
